The shelter (MCAS) is owned and operated by Monroe County; the staff of two full-time and three part-time people are county employees. The shelter is supported by volunteers provided by the Monroe County Friends of Animals.

Adoption Fees
All adoptions include spay/neuter, age-appropriate vaccinations (including rabies), 1st worming, and a microchip.
Cats:
- $60, for cats under 1 year old
- $50, for cats over 1 year old
- $40, senior cats
- $40, Second Chance Pals cats
- $20, barn cats
Dogs:
- $125, under 1 year old
- $100, 1-5 years old
- $50, senior dogs
- $50, Bully breeds
- $50, Second Chance Pals dogs
