The shelter (MCAS) is owned and operated by Monroe County; the staff of two full-time and three part-time people are county employees. The shelter is supported by volunteers provided by the Monroe County Friends of Animals.

Adoption Fees

All adoptions include spay/neuter, age-appropriate vaccinations (including rabies), 1st worming, and a microchip.


  • $60, for cats under 1 year old
  • $50, for cats over 1 year old

  • $40, Second Chance Pals cats
  • $20, barn cats


  • $125, under 1 year old
  • $100, 1-5 years old
  • $50, senior dogs
  • $50, Bully breeds
